My name is David White. This is my 13th year teaching here at Point Higgins Elementary School, and my 18th year teaching in the Ketchikan School District.
Many years ago, when I was growing up in Seattle, my father's dental practice included kids here in Ketchikan. Each summer, the rest of my family and I would come to Ketchikan to join my father for fishing and hunting trips. As the years passed, I came to love Ketchikan, and Alaska.
When I'm not here at Point Higgins Elementary teaching 4th graders, you can usually find me gillnetting for salmon, or longlining for halibut on my commercial fishing boat. I don't know...I guess it keeps me pretty busy, and I always have a good fish story to tell to the kids.
Here in room 120, we work hard every day to accomplish our fourth grade responsibilities. I believe that kids learn best when they are happy, and feeling proud of themselves, so it's important to me that students enjoy their learning adventures, and come home each day with smiles on their faces.
My goal has always been to give my students the best fourth grade education possible, and to see to it that every moment spent here at Point Higgins Elementary is a meaningful one.
I want to extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to visit our classroom, and spend time with the kids.
OK...See you at the school,
