Attention Parents

It's that time of year again! The Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District is partnering with the Association of Alaska School Boards to conduct the School Climate and Connectedness Survey©, a statewide survey taken by students, staff, and families. This survey measures perceptions of each school’s climate, including the engagement of students, staff, and families.

We value input from our families. You are a vital partner as we work to continually improve our school’s environment. One family member per student is asked to complete a survey by March 25th. If you have more than one child attending this school, you only need to fill out one survey.

Please click here to complete and submit your survey!

Recently, the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development (DEED) released the 2020-2021 Report Cards to the Public for each school district and school in Alaska.  To view a 2020-2021 school or district report card, go to https://education.alaska.gov/compass/report-card. Once there, you will be able to select which school or district report card to the public you wish to view. This user-friendly website aims to provide families with clear, common information about all public schools and districts in our state. These report cards to the public contain data and information about academics, school environment, teacher quality, and more.

Test-to-Stay Program

We have a new Test-to-Stay program for staff and students who are identified as close contacts!  Testing will take place from 9:30-10:30 Monday-Friday.  Click here for further information or to complete the online Parent/Guardian Authorization Form for your child to participate.

KGBSD Start Strong Plan: Travel

Vaccinated Individuals:

  • Do NOT need to quarantine;
  • Do NOT need to test as long as they remain asymptomatic.

Unvaccinated Individuals:

  • Test for COVID upon returning to Ketchikan;
  • Return to school after receiving a negative test result;
  • Taking a second COVID test 5-7 days after travel is strongly recommended.

Individuals Who Have Tested Positive for COVID-19 within the Last 90 Days:

The positive test result exempts them from testing or quarantine related to travel or being a close contact.
